Walk along a beach

We walk down to a beach, our first beach for this trip. Already visible are houses at Brooms Head, our destination five or six kilometres south. Red cliffs are tall with waves lashing the beach around their base so we don’t walk north to gaze upon their grandeur. We miss Shelley Beach and Plumbago Beach. That section of Yuraygir National Park is closed due to storm damage. I decide that I must return to walk all the way from Yamba when the trail opens again. So many beautiful places to walk in Australia.

Pebbles of many colours give us a little fun. A red one, grey, a different grey, stripes, of a white one. We follow the fourth Leave no Trace principle of Leave What You Find. “When we leave rocks, shells, plants, feathers, fossils, artefacts and other objects of interest as we find them, we pass the gift of discovery on to those who follow. It’s the missing elements of our favourite places that disturb us the most. “Leave What You Find” means retaining the special qualities of every wilderness area—for the long term.”
