Walk on Wurundjeri land

Walking on Wurundjeri land, we stop to read the mural and find the eels, dragonflies and fish. Womin-jeka Welcome. Had the boulder been placed as a useful seat, I wonder. Here “at the confluence of two important waterways, the Birrarung (Yarra River) and the Merri Creek, Dight’s Falls is a very special place for Wurundjeri people and others. Where the river narrowed, it allowed access to cross the river, to trap fish and eels, and as a meeting place of some significance.” Now a shared path for cyclists and pedestrians, a place to sit and ponder, a place to stroll, it’s still a meeting place of some significance, walking distance to the heart of the city of Melbourne.
