Walk to see three sisters

My first glimpse of the Three Sisters, ever. Three little bumps of rock. Distant but not disappointing. They’re as iconic Australian as the Opera House or Sydney Harbour. True blue. Will we actually walk to there? A lot of downhill then uphill. Kilometres of both. Plans in sand as tracks are closed after landslides yet we do arrive mid-afternoon to see those three sisters up close. We return to Katoomba by foot mid-afternoon to be surrounded by hundreds of tourists. But for now, we wander on in our own little group of bushwalkers. Our first day of walking in the Blue Mountains and it’s worth all the preparation. Down the Golden Stairs, let’s go.
