Walking around Wilsons Prom

Walking around Wilsons Prom for four or five days, we started with an early morning drive from Melbourne to Tidal River, where we signed into our booking and left our car. In full officially it’s Wilsons Promontory National Park, the southernmost tip of mainland Australia, but Wilsons Prom is enough for us.

Finding folders of photographs, I’m struck by the beauty of this photo, not from a photography point of view but the view. No memory attached. Referenced by its filing, I remember the wonderful trip but not this particular section of trail. Bright blue sky, such clarity in the air. Elongated long leaves pointing to the earth as gum leaves do. A flat track, sandy alongside the hill. Granite rocks sparkling in summer sunshine. It all brings back the feeling that good pack walks give, the feeling of enjoyment in nature far away from work, workplaces and city. Is that a feeling of freedom?
