Walk on the first day of spring

Deciduous fruit trees are blossoming. The first flowers are almond. A is for almond. The blossoms are spectacular, open wide showing their splendour. Walking in spring is such a delight. The smell of honey as we pass under the stiff thin branches; a tinge of green emerging as though leaves poke out their tiny noses to sense if it’s warm enough beyond the bed covers. Trees without leaves is so unAustralian to me, especially as I spent my childhood in the sub-tropics. The wonder of it all seems new every winter. Magical. I walk on. My feet move but my eyes are drawn still to the trees. A few pink peach and nectarine blossoms around a corner.
